Foundation

Florida Cardiovascular Institute is dedicated to patient-oriented research. This includes clinical research directly applicable to patient care and basic research into the mechanisms of cardiovascular disease and its treatment.

Selected candidates of research studies benefit greatly. Along with participating in cutting edge treatments, every candidate receives free medications (if part of the study), physician care and follow up visits.

As a patient of FCI you may be approached regarding participation in clinical research. One of your doctors may be a lead investigator or a sub investigator for a research study. If your physician identifies you as a potential candidate for one of our studies, you may be approached by the research staff either while you are in our clinic or during your inpatient hospital stay. The doctor and other members of the research team will then determine your eligibility based on the criteria established by the study protocol. After the screening process, if you remain a potential candidate, the study schedule and the informed consent will be discussed with you.
